Aleksandar Marković

Aleksandar Marković (born in Belgrade, August 7, 1975.) is a Serbian conductor living in Vienna, Austria. He was a principal conductor of Tyrolean Opera House (Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck). In 2008, he became the musical director and principal conductor of Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Republic. His contract has recently been extended by orchestra's unanimous vote until the end of 2013/14 season.
== Biography ==
Aleksandar Markovic graduated conducting at the ''University of Music and Performing Arts'' in Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Wien), in the class of Leopold Hager.〔 He was rewarded the ''Diploma d'onore'' at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, where he attended master class in conducting.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Aleksandar Marković )〕 He was a holder of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation's prestigious scholarship.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Aleksandar Marković )〕 In 2003, has won the First Prize at the ''7th International Conducting Competition'' of "Gregorz Fitelberg" in Katowice, Poland.
He was a Principal Conductor of ''Tyrolean Opera House'' from Innsbruck, Austria (Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck), from 2005 to 2008. During that time, he led productions of ''Romeo and Juliet'', ''Salome'', ''Madam Butterfly'', ''Tosca'', ''Norma'', ''La Traviata'', ''Nabucco'', ''The Flying Dutchman'', ''Cavaleria Rusticana'', ''I Pagliacci'', ''The Marriage of Figaro'', ''Swan Lake'', and a large number of symphonic pieces.〔

During his career, Aleksandar Markovic has conducted the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Dresden Philharmonic, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Music Director and Principal Conductor )〕 He regularly works with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared with Nürnberger Philharmoniker, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, State Philharmonic Rheinland-Pfalz, Württembergische Philharmonie, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, National Theatre (Prague), Chamber Orchestra Spirit of Europe, Salzburger Landestheater, and National Theatre in Belgrade.〔 As for non-European countries, he has worked with Korean orchestras and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.〔
